Public Philosophy

Here you can find links to some of the public philosophy that I have done.

“Sticky & Icky: Trusting Your Moral Gut” CBmE&U (National University of Singapore’s Centre for Biomedical Ethics) Podcast (August 2025)

I chat with James Lim and Sinead Prince about the role of moral disgust in ethical reasoning and practice.

“How Not to be a Know-it-all” Templeton Ideas (April 2025)

A brief interview where I discuss my work on intellectual humility.

“Intellectual Humility” with ABC Listen‘s The Philosopher’s Zone (March 2024)

I discuss the nature of intellectual humility with David Rutledge.

Is intellectual humility compatible with possessing strong religious or political beliefs? (March 2024)

I distinguish between two forms of intellectual humility: self-accepting humility (that involves recognising your limits) and magnanimous humility (that involves refraining from exercising your epistemic entitlements). From a Christian perspective, I suggest that we have good reason to exercise both forms of intellectual humility.

Simulating Humanity (August 2023)

Some reflection on my worries about the use of A.I. to simulate human agents such as in friendship and mental health chatbots. I suggest an important set of worries stems not from the intrinsic use of A.I. but from the objectifying networks that their use is embedded in.

The Four Critiques of Singapore’s Meritocracy (April 2019)

Singaporeans love to complain about our education system. I distill their complaints into four distinct worries. This piece was the runner up for an essay competition and won me a Samsung Galaxy.
